Digital systems are common today for model railroad control. However, they alone do not ensure diversified and reliable operation of a model railroad. It is true, that multiple digitally controlled trains can run independently on the same track. A human operator, however, is usually not able to monitor more than one or two moving trains at the same time. Switching of turnouts and signals is not significantly easier with digital systems than with conventional analog control - not to mention the switching of complete routes and comfortable operation of a whole switchboard.

Only the computer makes digital model railroad control truly perfect. It can guarantee the security of train operation at any time. With the help of additional monitoring functions such as block securing or interlocking based on routes the computer protects running trains from crashing. On request it can also drive some or all trains on the layout as an automatic engineer and thus provide semi- or fully automatic operation of the model railroad. By using a computer a single operator can easily, safely and conveniently accomplish extensive and varied operation of the layout.

With TrainController™, we offer world-class software for model railroad computer control. TrainController™ is characterized by particularly simple and effective use as well as secure operation. Because of its broad range of features TrainController™ is perfectly suited for beginners and professional model railroaders.

With powerful and easy-to-learn editing tools, even inexperienced users with no previous knowledge enter the necessary data into TrainController™ in the shortest time. Thus, only a few input is needed until the first train will run under control of the computer. Even the creation of track images for very large layouts is done with the built-in pen function in almost no time. Routes and itineraries must not be entered into the program at all. TrainController™ can calculate them automatically by utilizing the provided track diagram (see route test). The train operation can start immediately without complicated setting of routes, itineraries or timetables (see also train operation with TrainController™). Standard features such as routes, block securing, hidden yard control or shuttle trains can be set up with TrainController™ with a few mouse clicks. A built-in sophisticated system of modular building blocks also allows very individual, ambitious and also prototypical control functions. Not for nothing TrainController™ was selected in the recent past as the preferred control software for professional exhibition layouts. In this environment not only diversity and absolute reliability of operation are important, but for economic reasons also the effective and quick input of the necessary data. Private model railroaders will of course also benefit from the superiority of TrainController™ in these matters.

For us, however, it is not only the pure functionality, that counts. From our perspective it is not only important that you get to the goal, but also how. This includes, in addition to the pure functionality, simple and consistent user interfaces, comfortable and efficient editing functions with extensive capabilities, to undo and restore entered data, or program-wide support for the clipboard or drag and drop. This also includes built-in tools for debugging, complete and always up to date program documentation and carefully tested program components. In short, quality down to the smallest detail and from the beginning - starting with an easy and quickly completed installation! Although we have for example successfully ensured that our software almost never crashes, we have even taken into account this exception. In such case all moving trains are automatically stopped, to protect valuable rolling stock from damages; furthermore data as well as current system status is stored for a quick restart. Without quality the broadest range of features is of no avail. Fortunately, we offer both!

For further explanations of the operating principle and the differences of TrainController™ to other programs, see this page. The following variants of TrainController™ are available:

Bronze
TrainController™ Bronze offers a cost-effective entry into model railroad computer control. It is well suited for users who are looking for an easy to use program that covers reliably the standard tasks of model railroad control, such as switchboard operation, routes, block securing, hidden yard control or shuttle trains. TrainController™ Bronze also provides an excellent entry for model railroaders, who still have little experience with model railroad computer control. The features are focused on the essential functions. This makes it easier in particular at the beginning to distinguish the basic functions from the advanced.

Silver
TrainController™ Silver is the successor of the legendary control program TrainController™ 5. It addresses users with high demands and also users, who are not reluctant to puzzle to accomplish individual goals. TrainController™ 5 was already the leader among the programs for model train control. This position is strengthened further by TrainController™ Silver.

Gold
TrainController™ Gold is the ultimate control program for model railroads. It combines maximum functionality with simple operation, maximum convenience with most efficient way of working. TrainController™ Gold is the choice of professionals and users with highest demands that want to control like the professionals. Even the largest model railroad layouts can be efficiently and conveniently managed. Their block and route system can be configured in a few days (!). But also less experienced users can accomplish ambitious tasks easily and with little effort with TrainController™ Gold. In TrainController™ Gold virtually all essential requirements are considered, that have been collected from users of earlier versions of TrainController™ in the recent years. TrainController™ Gold is not only ahead of similar programs by several years, we even claim that currently there is no comparable program on the market!
